Parents today are pulled in a million different directions, making it hard to find the time for everything, especially to spend time with your family. This makes time management essential and we are here to help. Use a calendar.
With Christmas just a few days away, Hanukkah already in full swing, and New Year's Eve a little more than a week away, this time of year can be stressful for everyone. A simple trip to the grocery store to buy milk and bread can easily become an hour-long affair as you navigate your way through hordes of turkey buyers. Shopping in a brick and mortar store can easily send anyone over the edge. And no, I am not recommending online shopping, although it is an option for a few more days. I am recommending service gift certificates.
Let's face it, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is also the most hectic and stressful. With so many things to do, shopping, wrapping, baking, remembering to move the elf; and limited time to do them we soon feel overwhelmed. If you're one of those people feeling more frazzled than festive, taking the time to use a few time management strategies can reduce stress over the holidays; you'll feel as if you're in control, rather than feeling like you're being driven like one of Santa's reindeer. Make a list. If it works for Santa, it will work for you. Divide a page into two columns and write the things you MUST do (move the elf) on one side and the things you WANT to do (make the no-sew ruffle tree skirt on Pinterest) on the other. This will give you a healthy dose of perspective right off the bat.
The holidays are here, with wall-to-wall shoppers at the supermarket. Who wants to have to join them? Instead, assemble a holiday survival kit.
When it comes to packing I either nail it or totally blow it. My stint in regular business travel definitely helped me learn how to pick and choose what I needed for a week away from my closet, or in a different climate. As we are in full holiday swing, packing is inevitable for many families and parents having to pack for children have twice (or thrice) the burden. As I try to make it my personal goal to make lives easier, here are some packing tips to help you have a magical holiday, at least once you get past security. If you were really organized, you could print out a few of your favorite packing lists and keep them near your closet but, let's face it, if you were that organized you wouldn't need my help, right? Now let's get started!
