Spotlight on Expressions Dance Studio
Expressions Dance Studio & Company is celebrating its 15th anniversary with the opening of a new branch in China Spring. Studio owner, Jenni Holley said she wants to give kids in the China Spring area the chance to learn dance without having to drive into Waco.
“We just opened [our China Spring location] in mid-November for a late fall session,” Holley said. “We already have about 30 students, and we’re hoping more will join us when we start a new session in January.”
The new studio was formerly an auto shop that was completely gutted and remodeled to create the perfect space for budding dancers.
“We were looking for a cute building that was convenient for parents. The auto shop was the perfect size,” she said. “We put in dance floors, AC, surround sound and Bluetooth speakers.”
The new branch and the existing studio in Woodway will both offer dance classes for ages two and up, focusing on ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics.
“We offer non-competitive classes once a week where students can have a great time while still learning proper dance technique,” Holley said. “We believe what they learn in class is life training. They learn grace, poise, discipline, and how to work in a team atmosphere.”
The structured classes are taught by instructors who truly love what they do and have years of experience.
“We all have degrees in dance, experience teaching, and work well with kids,” she said.
And if your child is looking for a more intensive dance program, they can audition to be a part of the Expressions Dance Co. which is a performance company compromised of dancers ages 8 to 18 who exhibit extra enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and who are ready to take their skills to the next level.
“One of the things about us that makes us unique is that we are very involved in the community,” Holley said. “We perform at local events
as well as out-of-town conventions and competitions.”
Although the performance company is a great opportunity for those who want to begin their dance career, Holley said her studio is for dancers of all skill levels.
“We want to emphasize fun and creativity, while still providing a structured and nurturing environment,” she said.
