With the heat of the summer upon us and road trip season in full swing, chances are you’re going to be carting children in and out of the heat. While heading to a vacation spot or to the local pool can be exciting, riding in the car isn’t always a comfortable experience for children when the temperature rises, or when they’re stuck in their seats for hours on end.
Here are some ways that will give your kids the comforts of home when they’re strapped to their seat on a hot day.
Seat Belt Pillow
How many times have you looked back to see your child’s floppy head dangling on the seat belt, trying to get comfortable enough to sleep? Why not give them a soft place to lay their head during that long car trip with their very own seat belt pillow? With this easy tutorial, you can create your own pillow that can even be used outside of the car.
Seat Belt Cover
Even if your child is riding securely in the right size booster seat or car seat, sometimes the seat belt itself can be uncomfortable against the child’s skin or clothing. This could cause the child to place the seat belt behind them. In the event of a crash, a child only wearing a lap belt could sustain serious injury. So, why not give them one more reason to keep their seat belt in the right place by creating a soft seat belt cover? They are easy to make and could help prevent injury.
Summer Car Seat Cover
After a long day at the pool or the beach, there’s nothing like drying off and getting back in the hot car. Well, that might be how we’d feel if we didn’t have to try and maneuver our already wet towel into an L-shape so that our wet body wouldn’t make the car seat all soggy and uncomfortable.
One great way to combat this after-swimming problem is to create some car seat coversthat are made to fit your car’s seat and keep you dry. All you need is a couple of beach towels and some beginner sewing skills, and you’ve got a solution to a problem that has plagued summer swimmers for years.
Car Seat Cover Hammock for Pets
If your children are furry and don’t require a car seat or a seat belt, then you might just be looking for comfort for your four-legged friend. Why not create this adorable fleece hammockthat will not only keep your car seats from becoming scratched and damaged, but it will also give your dog a soft place to lie down during those long car trips.
Car trips and summer busyness can cause our kids to become irritable and even unsafe when they aren’t riding in comfort. So, try some of these comforting DIY projects and give your children a great place to enjoy the ride.
