Fireworks, a Ferris wheel, and snow tube hills are just some of the attractions and festivities awaiting visitors at downtown Waco’s 12th annual Waco Wonderland celebration. From Dec. 6-8, Central Texas families can gather at Heritage Square to kick off the holiday season.
“Waco Wonderland transforms the heart of downtown into a magical winter celebration, where families and friends can enjoy holiday cheer, festive lights, and endless fun,” said Jessica Maxwell, Events and Promotions Specialist for the City of Waco Parks and Recreation Department.
The festivities begin Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. with food trucks, Santa, and the Mistletoe Market. The evening also features live entertainment, local vendors, and fun attractions, including a Ferris wheel, train rides, and a craft station for kids.
Friday night will culminate in the much-anticipated tree lighting ceremony with city leaders, followed by a dazzling firework display at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the fun continues at 10 a.m. with the Waco Wonderland parade.
“Our other big attraction on Saturday is the Snow Tube Hill and the Kiddie Snow Tube Hill,” Maxwell said.
The three-lane snow hill opens at 3 p.m. on Saturday and will remain open until 10 p.m. While waiting for your turn, keep an eye out for “Grouchy Santa,” who might be lurking and stirring up playful mischief!
On Sunday, the festival kicks off at noon and wraps up at 6 p.m., with the snow tube hills open all day for more sliding fun.
“Admission to Waco Wonderland is free, as always, but wristbands can be purchased to ride the attractions,” Maxwell said. “Wristband sales will be available online for advance purchase and onsite during the event.” Attractions included with the wristband are the Ferris wheel, train rides, and both snow tube hills.
“With live entertainment, food trucks, a tree lighting ceremony, and local vendors, Waco Wonderland is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” Maxwell said. “The holiday spirit is contagious, and we invite everyone to come out and experience it firsthand!”
